Eyota Township, MN (February 25, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on Minnesota Highway 42 in Olmsted County left two people injured on Monday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:44 p.m. near the intersection of 30th St SE. The incident involved a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2013 Jeep Patriot, both traveling northbound on MN Highway 42 when they collided.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, 36-year-old Travis Lee Johnson of Austin, MN, was uninjured. Meanwhile, the driver of the Jeep Patriot, 52-year-old Rahn Christophe Molling of Mindoro, WI, and his passenger, 47-year-old Wendy Judith Storandt, both sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Reports indicate that airbags deployed in the Jeep Patriot, while the Jeep Grand Cherokee’s airbags did not activate. All individuals involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, and no alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Authorities, including the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, responded to assist with the accident. The road was dry at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full recovery.

Car Accidents in Minnesota

Highways in Minnesota, including MN Highway 42, often see a mix of local and through traffic, increasing the risk of rear-end and lane-change collisions. Even on dry roadways, accidents can occur due to distractions, speed variations, or driver miscalculations.

According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), thousands of crashes occur annually across the state, many resulting in injuries. While seat belt use and safety features like airbags help reduce the severity of injuries, victims may still face medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term recovery challenges.

After a crash, taking the right steps—such as seeking medical attention, reporting the incident, and documenting the scene—can be crucial for recovery and any potential claims.
