Essex, MD (September 16, 2024) – Two men riding an ATV were tragically killed Sunday night after being struck by an Amtrak train. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. near Schafer’s Ln and CSX Railway, where the individuals were reportedly obstructing the tracks.

Amtrak Train 149, en route from New York City to Roanoke, VA, hit the ATV between the Aberdeen and Baltimore stations. Baltimore County Police confirmed both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

No injuries were reported among the 519 passengers and crew aboard the train. The crash caused delays and re-routings for several other trains.
