Escambia County, FL (February 4, 2025) – A driver faces charges following a hit-and-run crash that left five people injured over the weekend, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash occurred on February 1 near U.S. 29 and Salters Lake Road. Reports indicate that a 35-year-old man from Milton was driving an SUV at a high rate of speed in the outside lane when he collided with the rear of a pickup truck.
The impact forced the pickup truck off the roadway, where it overturned multiple times before coming to a stop on the shoulder. The driver of the SUV fled the scene following the crash.
Emergency responders arrived to assist the victims. The driver of the pickup, a 38-year-old woman from Milton, sustained serious injuries, while four passengers suffered minor injuries.
Authorities later located the SUV driver, who is now facing charges in connection with the hit-and-run. The investigation remains ongoing.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
Hit-and-Run Accidents in Florida
Hit-and-run crashes are a serious issue in Florida, leaving victims with injuries and property damage while delaying emergency response. Drivers who flee the scene of an accident not only violate the law but also create additional challenges for injured victims seeking medical care and compensation.
Florida law requires all drivers involved in an accident to remain at the scene and provide aid if necessary. Victims of hit-and-run crashes often rely on uninsured motorist (UM) coverage or legal action to recover damages for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
