Escambia County, FL (December 03, 2024) – A deadly crash in Escambia County Tuesday afternoon resulted in the death of a 20-year-old motorcyclist and serious injuries to a woman. The incident occurred at approximately 4:09 PM at the intersection of U.S. 29 (State Road 95) and Tate School Road.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a 20-year-old man from Cantonment was riding a motorcycle northbound on U.S. 29 when he collided with an SUV driven by a 72-year-old woman from Cantonment, who was crossing U.S. 29 while heading east on Tate School Road. The impact of the collision caused the SUV to strike a sedan that had been stopped at the intersection of Tate School Rd and U.S. 29.
The motorcyclist was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, while the 72-year-old woman in the SUV sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The sedan driver, a 59-year-old woman from Molino, was fortunately uninjured.
Emergency responders from Escambia County Fire Rescue arrived quickly on the scene and provided care to the injured parties. Authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and it’s unclear whether factors like speed or road conditions played a role.
