Ellsworth, ME – Driver Killed in Crash with State Police Cruiser on Rte 180

Ellsworth, ME (September 5, 2024) – A fatal crash occurred Wednesday evening, September 4 when a 2008 Toyota Sienna, driven by Jonathan Wood, 43, of Winter Harbor, struck a parked Maine State Police cruiser on Rte 180. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m.

Wood’s vehicle crossed the road and hit Trooper Ryan Murry’s cruiser, causing the van to roll over and eject Wood, who was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene. Murry sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from a nearby hospital.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
