Ellendale, DE (December 19, 2024) – Delaware State Police are investigating a tragic single-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning on Dupont Blvd, just north of East Robbins Rd. The incident resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.
At approximately 9:55 a.m., a northbound Honda Accord veered off the east side of the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle traveled a short distance before colliding with a tree. The front-seat passenger, identified as 38-year-old William Malachi of New Castle, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, a 37-year-old woman from Ellendale, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Dupont Blvd was closed for about three hours as the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit conducted its investigation and cleared the roadway. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact Sergeant A. Mitchell at (302) 703-3269.
