Elk Township, NJ (February 21, 2025) – A devastating house fire in Gloucester County claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman and left five others injured on Thursday morning.
According to Elk Township Police, fire crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Marion Street around 8 a.m., where they found the home fully engulfed in flames. Tragically, the woman was found deceased inside the residence. Her identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
An 85-year-old man managed to escape the burning home before emergency responders arrived. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Four firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the intense blaze. They were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Multiple fire departments assisted in extinguishing the fire. The Gloucester County Fire Marshal’s Office, Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, and Elk Township Police are actively investigating the cause of the fire.
