Elk River, MN (December 14, 2024) – A two-vehicle collision occurred Thursday afternoon at the intersection of EB Hwy 10 and 171st Ave in Elk River, Sherburne County. The crash involved a 2011 Hyundai Elantra and a 2020 Western Star tractor.
According to authorities, the Hyundai Elantra, driven by 36-year-old Stephen Owusu of Elk River, was traveling northbound on 171st Ave when it collided with the eastbound Western Star tractor, driven by 29-year-old Sarbjit Singh of Middletown, NY. The vehicles collided in the intersection.
Both Owusu and his passenger, 32-year-old Sheron Osei, were wearing seatbelts and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were both transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Western Star tractor, Singh, was uninjured and did not require medical attention.
The road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, and there were no indications of alcohol involvement. The intersection was temporarily closed while emergency responders from Sherburne County, Elk River Fire Dept, Elk River Ambulance, and Elk River PD worked to clear the scene and assist those involved.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
