El Paso County, CO (September 17, 2024) – A serious accident occurred Monday night involving a Ford van and a Volkswagen Passat on westbound Highway 94, east of Colorado Springs. The collision resulted in two individuals being hospitalized.
According to a spokesperson for the Colorado State Patrol, both vehicles were traveling in the same lane when the van attempted to make a turn but failed to slow down in time, leading to a rear-end collision with the Volkswagen. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to veer off the road, with the Volkswagen subsequently crashing into an electric pole.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene to assist those injured in the crash. Both occupants of the Volkswagen were transported to the hospital for treatment. The passenger sustained serious injuries, while the driver was reported to have moderate injuries.
Additionally, two passengers in the van reported minor injuries but were able to receive treatment on-site. Fortunately, no other individuals in the van were hurt during the incident.
The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the contributing factors.
