Edinburg, TX (March 2, 2025) – A fatal three-vehicle crash occurred on Friday afternoon on State Highway 107, east of FM 493, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The incident was reported at approximately 3:29 p.m., prompting an emergency response from law enforcement and medical personnel.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a black 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on SH-107 when an aqua 1992 Ford Roadster, also heading eastbound, attempted to pass by speeding. The driver of the Ford lost control, causing the vehicle to skid to the left before veering off the roadway. The Ford first struck an unoccupied silver Ford Expedition before crashing into the left rear side of the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The impact of the crash ejected the driver of the Ford Roadster, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Fatal Car Accidents in Texas
Texas roadways, including highways like SH-107, often see high-speed traffic, increasing the risk of serious and fatal crashes. Unsafe passing, excessive speed, and failure to wear seatbelts are common factors in severe accidents.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), thousands of fatal crashes occur across the state each year. Data shows that failing to wear a seatbelt significantly increases the likelihood of ejection from a vehicle during a high-impact collision. Speeding also plays a major role in roadway fatalities, as drivers lose control more easily at higher speeds.
For individuals involved in serious crashes, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial. In addition, documenting the scene and gathering witness accounts can be important for investigations and legal matters.
As authorities continue their investigation into this Edinburg crash, all motorists are reminded to follow traffic laws, avoid reckless driving behaviors, and always wear a seatbelt to reduce the risk of fatal injuries.
