Eddyville, KY (November 25, 2024) – A tragic collision on Friday at the intersection of the I-24 westbound off-ramp at exit 45 and KY-293 claimed the life of one individual and left another injured. The incident is under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 1.
Authorities report that the crash occurred when a box truck, operated by Thomas Flood, 24, of Longview, Washington, exited westbound I-24 and attempted to cross onto KY-293. As Flood’s vehicle entered the roadway, it was struck on the side by a car traveling northbound on KY-293, driven by Jerrod Easley, 54, of Princeton, Kentucky.
Emergency responders from Lyon County Fire and Rescue arrived at the scene and determined that Easley had sustained life-threatening injuries. Despite their efforts, Easley was pronounced dead at the scene. Flood was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The intersection was temporarily closed as crews worked to clear the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Kentucky State Police have expressed condolences to Easley’s family and are continuing their investigation.
