Easton, CT (October 16, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Route 58 in Easton around 7:40 PM, resulting in a fatality. The Easton Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a serious two-car crash on the roadway, located south of Center Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one vehicle engulfed in flames and the other severely damaged. The Easton Fire Department quickly responded to extinguish the fire, but unfortunately, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released as authorities are in the process of notifying family members.
Easton EMS transported another person involved in the crash to a local hospital for medical treatment. The Fairfield Police Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Assistance was also provided by Monroe EMS and the Wilton Police Department.
The roadway remained closed for an extended period into Sunday morning, September 29, as investigators worked to gather evidence and determine the cause of the crash.
