East Rutherford, NJ (September 10, 2024) – Early this Tuesday morning, September 10, East Rutherford Fire Department responded to a severe motor vehicle accident on RTE 3. Shortly after their arrival, a secondary collision occurred involving an EMS vehicle and an ERFD chief’s vehicle.
While the ERFD chief escaped injury, occupants in the other vehicles sustained injuries. The incident took place just before 7 AM and involved a vehicle rear-ending the EMS unit, which then collided with the chief’s vehicle.
These accidents underscore the hazards faced by first responders on highways. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of adhering to the move-over law and are investigating the incidents.
