East Los Angeles, CA (January 30, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a pedestrian late Wednesday night on Interstate 10 Eastbound near the I-710 interchange.
According to reports, the fatal crash occurred around 11:03 PM, when a male pedestrian was seen walking in the lanes of traffic within a construction zone. The individual was reportedly in the HOV lane before stepping into active traffic lanes.
A vehicle struck the pedestrian, causing severe injuries. First responders from Alhambra Fire Department and other emergency crews arrived shortly after the incident and confirmed that the pedestrian had suffered fatal injuries. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office was notified and responded to the scene.
Authorities also reported that a white Lexus SUV was involved in the accident and stopped on the right shoulder of the freeway. It remains unclear whether other vehicles were also involved. Due to the severity of the crash, officials issued a SigAlert, and multiple lanes on Interstate 10 Eastbound near Ramona Blvd were closed while investigators examined the scene.
Traffic officials urged drivers to avoid the area as the investigation continued late into the night. The cause of the incident remains under review.
