Eagle Springs, NC (January 27, 2025) – A crash involving an 18-wheeler and a Honda Civic sent one driver to a trauma center and temporarily shut down N.C. 705 on Sunday afternoon. The collision occurred just before 3 PM at the intersection of N.C. 705 and Bensalem Church Rd.
According to officials at the scene, the Honda Civic was stopped at the intersection of Bensalem Church Rd and N.C. 705. As the Civic attempted to pull onto the roadway, it entered the path of an 18-wheeler traveling south on N.C. 705 toward N.C. 211. The truck driver applied the brakes and attempted to avoid the collision by steering left, but the two vehicles collided head-on.
The impact caused the Honda Civic to spin around, coming to rest in the middle of the roadway facing north with severe front-end damage. The 18-wheeler veered off the road, stopping near a cluster of pine trees, with its trailer partially obstructing the road.
The driver of the Civic was airlifted to a trauma center after being extricated from the vehicle. Officials confirmed that she was alert and speaking during the rescue operation. The truck driver was not injured and did not require medical transport. Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
Authorities closed N.C. 705 temporarily to clear the scene and conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish her a full recovery.
Truck Accidents in North Carolina
Collisions involving large trucks, such as 18-wheelers, often result in severe injuries due to the size and weight of these vehicles. North Carolina sees a significant number of truck-related accidents each year, particularly on highways and rural roads like N.C. 705. Such collisions are frequently caused by factors like misjudgments at intersections, distracted driving, or difficulties in maneuvering large vehicles.
Victims of truck accidents often face severe consequences, including traumatic injuries, lengthy recovery periods, and financial burdens. Ensuring that drivers exercise caution at intersections and give the right-of-way to oncoming traffic can significantly reduce the risk of these crashes.
After a truck accident, victims should seek immediate medical attention, document the incident, and consult with professionals to address insurance claims and potential legal challenges. Taking these steps can help victims focus on their recovery and secure the resources they need.
