Durham, CT (January 7, 2025) – An 86-year-old man tragically lost his life in a three-vehicle crash on Route 17 near Corn Club Rd on Monday afternoon. The collision occurred around 1:15 PM and involved a head-on impact between two vehicles, with a third vehicle becoming involved as a result.
State police identified the deceased as John Festa, of Northford, who was driving south on Route 17 in a pickup truck. Festa’s truck collided head-on with another vehicle, causing significant damage. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
A passenger in Festa’s truck was also hospitalized for treatment of injuries. The driver of the second vehicle involved sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for care. Authorities have not provided further details about the third vehicle’s involvement or any additional injuries.
The crash is under investigation as police work to determine the circumstances that led to this tragic incident.
