Dover, DE (November 20, 2024) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 29-year-old woman Tuesday evening on North DuPont Highway (Route 13) in Dover. The incident occurred at approximately 7:03 PM, just north of Leipsic Road.
According to the Dover Police Department, the pedestrian was crossing the highway outside of a designated crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing. A 17-year-old male driving a Nissan pickup truck struck the woman while traveling northbound. Following the collision, the driver continued briefly before stopping in a nearby parking lot and contacting his parents. Police made contact with the driver shortly thereafter.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not filed charges at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
