Dinsmore Township, OH – One Killed, One Injured in Semi-Truck Accident on I-75 near Botkins Rd

Dinsmore Township, OH (September 5, 2024) – A deadly accident involving three semi-trucks occurred Wednesday afternoon, September 4, on I-75 near the Botkins Rd exit in Shelby County. Around 3 p.m., a 2020 Freightliner driven by Jaquan Simon, 27, was rear-ended by a 2015 International tractor-trailer operated by Jeffrey Sherrick, 65. Sherrick’s truck was then struck by a 2023 Volvo driven by Iurie Chetrusea, 43, of Strongsville.

Chetrusea’s cab and trailer caught fire, and he tragically died from his injuries. Sherrick’s truck also caught fire, and he was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center with minor injuries. Simon was uninjured.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident. Further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
