Diamond, IL (November 4, 2024) – A tragic residential structure fire occurred early Sunday morning in the 800 block of Crystal Lane, resulting in multiple fatalities. The Coal City Fire Department responded to the scene around 6 a.m. after receiving reports of the fire and individuals trapped inside the home.
Upon arrival, emergency responders observed heavy smoke and flames engulfing the structure. Firefighters worked diligently to rescue the victims who were still inside. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, two people lost their lives in the fire. In total, more than six ambulances were requested to assist with the emergency response, indicating the severity of the situation.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities, and more information regarding the victims has not yet been released.
