DeWitt, NY (October 17, 2024) – A serious traffic accident occurred on the New York State Thruway (I-90) near Carrier Circle on Wednesday morning, leading to significant disruptions in traffic. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. and involved two vehicles.
According to the New York State Police, a 2019 Hyundai driven by 50-year-old Victoria Ackerman was traveling westbound at high speed in the passing lane when it collided with a 2020 Ford driven by 48-year-old Julie Seils from Spencerport. The force of the impact caused Seils’ vehicle to be pushed off the highway and into the median, resulting in its overturning.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene promptly. Seils was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where she was reported to be in critical condition with serious injuries. Ackerman was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Following the crash, Ackerman was issued tickets for speeding and following too closely.
