Dekalb, MO (October 11, 2024) – A serious vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at approximately 3:15 PM, at the intersection of US Highway 36 and Missouri Highway 33, about half a mile north of Osborn. The incident involved two vehicles and resulted in injuries, prompting a response from local emergency services.
According to the investigation, the accident involved a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 20-year-old Gracie Connell from Easton, MO, and a 2022 Chevrolet 3500 driven by 28-year-old Riley N. Weehlers from Maloy, IA. Preliminary reports suggest that the Chevrolet 3500 was traveling southbound on MO 33 and failed to yield to the westbound Chevrolet Silverado on US 36. As a result, the Silverado struck the Chevrolet 3500.
Following the collision, the Chevrolet Silverado came to rest in the median on its wheels, facing north, while the Chevrolet 3500 ended up off the north side of the roadway, also on its wheels. Emergency responders, including the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office and Osborn Fire Department, arrived at the scene to assist.
Abigail L. Connell, an 18-year-old occupant of the Chevrolet Silverado, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Dekalb-Clinton Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care for further medical evaluation and treatment. Fortunately, both drivers were reported to have been wearing safety devices at the time of the accident.
