De Leon Springs, FL (September 3, 2024) – A 19-year-old woman died, and a 22-year-old man was critically injured in a head-on collision on Sunday, September 1, on U.S. 17. According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 2:17 a.m. when a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by the man, drifted into the northbound lanes, striking the woman’s Jeep Wrangler.
The woman’s vehicle veered off the road, flipped, and caught fire, killing her at the scene. The man was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, where he remains in critical condition.
