Dayton, OH (November 28, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred in Dayton on Monday evening, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old man. The crash was reported just before 6:30 PM at the intersection of E. Third Street and Keowee Street. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, Dayton Police officers located the victim, identified as a 67-year-old male, who had been hit while walking in a crosswalk on the south side of the intersection. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Initial investigations suggest that the victim was crossing westbound in the crosswalk while the “do not walk” signal was activated. The vehicle, which was traveling north on Keowee Street, struck the man before continuing on without stopping.
The driver of the vehicle has not yet been located, and the crash remains under investigation. Dayton Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their efforts to identify the driver responsible.
