Davie, FL (January 26, 2025) – A 19-year-old man from Davie was tragically killed, and six others were injured in a high-speed crash involving an Audi S5 and a Honda Accord on State Road 84 early Saturday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported the collision occurred shortly before 3 a.m. near University Drive.
According to investigators, both the Audi and Honda were traveling “at an excessive speed” in semi-parallel fashion in the left and center westbound lanes of the highway. The vehicles collided when the right side of the Audi struck the left side of the Honda, side-swiping it.
The impact caused the Audi to veer into the left shoulder and crash into a concrete traffic barrier. The car then lost control, crossed all westbound lanes of traffic, struck a guardrail on the right shoulder, and ultimately crashed into a metal fence on the grassy shoulder. The Honda came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder.
During the crash, a 19-year-old passenger from Davie was ejected from the Audi and was pronounced dead at the scene by Davie Fire Rescue. The remaining six occupants of both vehicles sustained injuries, though it is unclear if any were hospitalized. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and the injured individuals during this difficult time.
High-Speed Crashes in Florida
High-speed crashes are among the most devastating types of traffic accidents, often leading to severe injuries and fatalities. Major highways like State Road 84 in Davie are especially prone to high-speed collisions due to the open roadways and dense traffic flow. Excessive speed reduces reaction time and increases the force of impact, which can result in catastrophic outcomes.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), speed is a leading contributing factor in many of the state’s fatal traffic accidents. High-speed crashes often involve complex scenarios with multiple vehicles, making them particularly challenging for emergency responders and investigators.
For families dealing with the aftermath of a fatal crash, the emotional toll is immense. Additionally, survivors may face medical expenses, lost wages, and long-term physical and emotional recovery. Seeking legal counsel can help victims and their families pursue justice and compensation for their losses.
