Dassel Township, MN (January 1, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 12 and 735th Avenue resulted in injuries to both drivers on Sunday morning. The crash occurred at approximately 9:43 a.m., according to information provided by the Minnesota State Patrol.
A 2021 Jeep Compass, driven by Edward Ivan Martinez, 26, of Atwater, MN, was traveling eastbound on Highway 12, while a 2013 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Carlos Humberto Rodriguez, 23, of Woonsocket, RI, was heading westbound. The vehicles collided at the intersection, causing significant damage and deploying airbags in both vehicles.
Emergency responders from the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Dassel Fire Department were on the scene to assist. Martinez was transported to Wilmar Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and Rodriguez was taken to Litchfield Hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were reportedly wearing seat belts, and no alcohol was involved in the crash.
The roads were wet at the time of the incident, which may have contributed to the collision. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash to determine the exact cause.
