Dassel, MN (September 16, 2024) – A gas explosion inside a fish house in Dassel claimed the life of 46-year-old Jeffery Holmquist. The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office reported that the explosion caused severe burns, and Holmquist was airlifted to Hennepin Healthcare Burn Center on Saturday morning. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is working with local authorities to investigate the cause of the explosion. The investigation remains ongoing.
