The bus driver, a 63-year-old woman from New Madison, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Wayne Healthcare for treatment. The driver of the Honda was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Fortunately, no children were on the school bus at the time of the crash.
Greenville City Schools Superintendent Doug Fries expressed his concern for those involved, stating, “We are thinking of everyone involved in the accident and hoping everyone will be ok.”
The Darke County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we wish them a full and speedy recovery.
School Bus Accidents in Ohio
School bus-related accidents, while relatively rare, can have severe consequences due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved. In this case, the lack of children on the bus likely prevented further injuries. However, crashes at intersections remain a common cause of traffic-related injuries, often stemming from failure to observe traffic control devices, as seen in this incident.
Ohio law mandates strict adherence to traffic signals, especially in areas frequented by school transportation. Motorists are reminded of the critical importance of stopping at posted signs and yielding the right-of-way to prevent such tragic events.
Victims of school bus accidents face unique challenges, including navigating liability issues and securing proper compensation for injuries. Families affected by these incidents should seek experienced support to address both medical and legal needs.
