Dallas County, AL (February 1, 2025) – A devastating car crash on U.S. 80 Thursday night claimed the lives of four teenagers and left another seriously injured, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The crash occurred at approximately 6:27 p.m., when an 18-year-old driver from Wetumpka lost control of a 2006 Toyota Avalon, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree. Tragically, the driver and three of the passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The victims have been identified as an 18-year-old driver from Wetumpka, a 17-year-old teen from Selma, a 19-year-old Isaiah D. McDade of Pike Road, and a 19-year-old Tyler O. Jones of Montgomery.
A fifth passenger, 19-year-old Deneco D. Smith of Montgomery, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Vaughn Regional Medical Center in Selma before being transferred to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
Authorities confirmed that none of the four victims who lost their lives were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
ALEA troopers are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
