Dale County, AL (December 28, 2024) – A tragic truck accident early Saturday morning resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to another on County Rd 72 near Ariton.

Emergency responders were quick to the scene, providing care to the injured victims. According to officials, the incident occurred in the 1200 block of County Rd 72 when a truck veered off the roadway, collided with a tree, and became engulfed in flames.

Indea Dease, 50, of Ariton, was a passenger in the vehicle and tragically lost her life at the scene due to injuries sustained in the fiery crash. The driver, identified as Jacob Dease, 45, also of Ariton, suffered injuries and was transported to a hospital in Dothan for treatment.

The Dale County Fire and Rescue crews worked diligently to manage the flames and assist the injured. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division is investigating the accident. However, no further information will be released at this time.
