Cudahy, WI (October 7, 2024) – A serious accident occurred during the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon on Sunday, October 6, when a 28-year-old woman participating in the race was struck by a vehicle. The incident took place around 11:20 a.m. in the 5900 block of S. Lake Drive, prompting a response from the Cudahy Police Department.
According to police reports, the accident involved three vehicles and a pedestrian. A 68-year-old woman from Waterford was traveling southbound on S. Lake Drive in the right lane when she reportedly experienced a medical emergency. Her vehicle sideswiped another southbound vehicle, causing minor damage; fortunately, the driver of that vehicle was not injured.
Following the initial collision, the first vehicle struck a second southbound vehicle driven by a 65-year-old man from Cudahy, causing that car to roll over onto its side. After hitting the second vehicle, the first vehicle then collided with the 28-year-old woman from Medford, who was running in the marathon.
Emergency responders transported the injured woman and both drivers to local hospitals for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed at this time.
