Cozad, NE (November 9, 2024) – A passenger bus crashed into a Burger King restaurant on Thursday afternoon, injuring seven people and causing extensive structural damage to the building’s south side. The accident occurred around 1:24 p.m., according to Cozad Fire and Rescue Chief Brian Woldt.
Emergency responders from Cozad Fire and Rescue, supported by the Gothenburg Fire Department, arrived promptly at the scene to assist the injured and secure the area. Six passengers, including the bus driver, and one individual inside the restaurant were injured in the crash. Five of the injured were transported to Cozad Community Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two others were taken to Gothenburg Health for similar care.
Authorities called for a tow truck to remove the vehicle, and the restaurant sustained a large hole in its structure. The Cozad Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash, and details about the bus and its owner have not been released.
