Covington, LA (October 4, 2024) – Louisiana State Police responded to two tragic accidents on the Northshore on Thursday, October 3 resulting in the loss of two lives. The first incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on LA Highway 1064 near Durbin Road in Tangipahoa Parish. According to police reports, Albert Johnson, a 55-year-old resident of Albany, was driving a 2011 Nissan Altima eastbound on LA-1064 when his vehicle veered off the right side of the road, colliding with a tree. Unfortunately, Johnson was unrestrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later that evening, at approximately 10 p.m., a second crash took place in Covington, involving two vehicles on LA Highway 21 near Cleland Street. State police reported that Glenn Wells, a 35-year-old from Bogalusa, was driving a 2006 Nissan Sentra on LA-21 when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle collided head-on with a southbound 2015 GMC Canyon. Wells, who was also unrestrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.
