Cottonwood, MN (October 25, 2024) – A traffic accident occurred on the afternoon of October 24, 2024, at approximately 4:42 p.m. at Highway 23 Milepost 88. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of injuries related to the collision.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 68-year-old Mark Arthur Vandelanotte from Cottonwood, was traveling northbound on Highway 23 when it collided with a 2006 Jeep Liberty SUV, driven by 83-year-old Janice Marie Doppenberg from Chandler, who was traveling southbound. The two vehicles collided at the intersection, leading to significant disruptions in traffic as authorities worked to manage the situation.
Both drivers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Marshall Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. It was confirmed that both were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, and the airbags in both vehicles deployed during the collision. Fortunately, there were no indications of alcohol involvement.
