Corpus Christi, TX (December 23, 2024) – A man tragically lost his life early Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Ayers St and McArdle Rd. Authorities have arrested the driver involved, who they say was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Corpus Christi police were dispatched to the scene at approximately 1:21 a.m. after receiving reports of an injured pedestrian. Medics arrived and transported the man, who sustained severe injuries, to a local hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.

Investigators determined that the driver of the vehicle, 20-year-old Nadine Tijerina, was traveling south on the 4800 block of Ayers St when she struck the man, who was not using a crosswalk. Officers reported that Tijerina showed signs of intoxication and subsequently arrested her on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle. She was also charged with possession of marijuana after officers discovered marijuana inside her car.

After being medically evaluated at a local hospital, Tijerina was transported to the City Detention Center for booking. The investigation into this fatal incident remains ongoing. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
