Cornish, UT (September 19, 2024) – A 40-year-old man was killed when a train collided with his van near Utah’s border with Idaho. The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. on Wednesday as the van crossed unregulated train tracks near 13400 N and 4800 W. Two other cars safely crossed the tracks before the van was struck by the northbound train.
The driver’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification. Union Pacific confirmed no injuries to the train crew.
Authorities, including Cache County deputies and Utah Highway Patrol, responded to the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
