The Copperas Cove Fire Department responded to the structure fire at around 4:30 AM in the 2100 block of Circle Dr. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the front of the garage of a single-family home.

The situation quickly escalated when it was reported that one resident was still inside the house. Firefighters made their way through the home, which was filled with heavy smoke that caused a complete loss of visibility. Despite their efforts, they were able to locate the individual, a 61-year-old man identified as George Freeman. Emergency personnel performed life-saving measures on Freeman, but tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was determined to be due to the effects of the fire.

The Copperas Cove Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire after approximately 30 minutes of intense work.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fire officials are working to determine what led to the blaze.
