Cook County, IL (January 7, 2025) – A school bus crash on Interstate 290 near I-390 in the Chicago suburbs Monday afternoon left one adult injured, according to Illinois State Police. The incident occurred just before 11:30 AM.
The Mount Prospect Park District reported that 55 children were on a field trip to the Enchanted Castle in Lombard when the crash occurred. Seven adult administrators were also on board. One adult was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries, the severity of which has not been disclosed. Thankfully, no children required hospitalization, as confirmed by school district officials.
To manage the aftermath, a shuttle van was arranged to transport some of the children, while a school bus brought the remaining children back to the park district. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
