Conneaut, OH (October 29, 2024) – A significant four-car accident occurred on Interstate 90 eastbound at approximately 11:06 a.m. on Monday, resulting in a temporary closure of the highway for two hours. Fortunately, a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OHP) confirmed that there were no fatalities resulting from the incident.
Emergency responders from the OHP’s Ashtabula Post, Conneaut Police Department, Conneaut Fire Department, Kingsville Fire Department, and the Ohio Department of Transportation arrived promptly at the scene to manage the situation and assist those involved.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the OHP, the accident began when a 2017 black Dodge Durango, driven by 48-year-old David Haynes of Buffalo, New York, struck a 2022 white Ford F-150, which was being driven by 44-year-old Kent Anderson from Amery, Wisconsin. The impact caused the Durango to rear-end a black 2013 Honda Accord, operated by 38-year-old Edgard Montalvan of Hurst, Texas. The force of the collision caused the Honda Accord to spin into the highway median.
The situation escalated when the Durango crossed the median into the eastbound lanes of I-90, colliding with a gray 2019 Ford F-150 driven by 67-year-old James Potter of Kingsville. Both the Durango and the gray F-150 caught fire as a result of the crash.
Emergency medical services transported James Potter to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other drivers involved in the accident sustained minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this accident as they recover from their injuries.
