Concord, NH (February 28, 2025) – A major pileup involving multiple vehicles shut down Interstate 89 South in Concord on Friday morning, leaving at least two people seriously injured.
The crash occurred around 6:34 a.m. and spanned nearly half a mile, according to the Concord Fire Department. Emergency responders arrived to find at least nine vehicles severely damaged or destroyed. Three people were transported to Concord Hospital, two of whom suffered serious injuries.
Authorities reported that sun glare on the wet highway likely played a role in the collisions, as several drivers cited difficulty seeing the road ahead. The southbound lanes of I-89 were completely shut down for approximately 45 minutes while crews worked to assist victims and clear the scene.
Investigators continue to review the crash, and officials have urged drivers to take extra precautions when sun glare impacts visibility.
Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we hope for their full recovery.
