Columbus, OH (February 8, 2025) – A tragic wrong-way crash occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 71 South, resulting in one fatality and five injuries. The collision happened just after 12:05 AM on I-71 north of East 17th Avenue when 23-year-old Ariana Williams was driving her Kia Forte north in the southbound lanes. Her vehicle collided with a Ford Fusion before continuing north and striking a Jeep Grand Cherokee head-on. The impact caused the Jeep to spin off the road, while the Kia Forte spun into the middle lane and collided with a Volvo semi.
Williams was ejected from her vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:14 AM. Three adults inside the Jeep were transported to Grant Medical Center, with their conditions described as stable. The drivers of the Ford and Volvo were treated for injuries at the scene.
