Columbus, OH (October 21, 2024) – A serious incident occurred on October 20 when a vehicle crashed through the front of a Bob Evans restaurant in southeast Columbus. The crash took place just before 11:50 AM at the Bob Evans located at 4019 Hamilton Square Boulevard, near U.S. Route 33 and South Hamilton Road.
Preliminary reports indicate that a BMW SUV collided with the restaurant, crashing into a window and the brick structure near the front door. According to Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Jeffrey Geitter, the collision resulted in injuries to three individuals, including the driver of the vehicle. Both juveniles who were inside the restaurant at the time of the crash were transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, while the driver was taken to Mount Carmel East. Fortunately, Geitter confirmed that all three individuals are expected to recover from their injuries.
Witnesses reported that the two juveniles were seated inside the restaurant when the crash occurred, and an officer with the Columbus Division of Police noted that a table was pushed into them due to the impact.
As of now, no additional information has been released regarding the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear whether the driver will face any charges. The vehicle was removed from the front of the building shortly after 12:30 PM, and the Bob Evans location is temporarily closed as a result of the incident.
