Columbus, OH (December 23, 2024) – A fatal collision on Interstate 270 South in Blendon Township left one person dead and caused significant traffic disruptions on Monday morning. The crash occurred shortly after 8:30 AM, prompting a response from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities reported that a Honda abruptly changed lanes, striking the driver’s side mirror of a Buick before continuing and colliding with a semi-trailer. Tragically, the driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 AM. The driver of the semi-trailer was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, while the Buick’s driver was unharmed.
I-270 South was closed from State Route 161 to Westerville Rd for several hours as authorities investigated the scene and worked to clear the roadway. The highway reopened shortly before 1:30 PM.
