Columbia, SC (November 7, 2024) – A tragic three-vehicle collision claimed the life of one individual early Thursday morning in Richland County. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred at approximately 6:54 a.m. on Garners Ferry Rd, about four miles south of Columbia.
The incident unfolded when a 2001 Ford Taurus rear-ended a 1994 Chevy S-10 pickup truck as it slowed to execute a U-turn at the intersection of Garners Ferry Road and McCords Ferry Road. The impact forced the Chevy S-10 into the westbound lane, where it was struck by a 2021 Chevy Silverado. The driver of the Chevy S-10 succumbed to their injuries at the scene, according to Highway Patrol Master Trooper William Bennett. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending family notification.
