Columbia, KY (October 22, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred on Saturday evening in Adair County, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries. At approximately 7:30 p.m., Kentucky State Police troopers were dispatched to the scene of a collision on Greensburg Road in Columbia.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a Chevrolet 1500 pickup was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Road, facing south. Chad Pegg, 54, was standing near the front of the parked pickup when a Ford Edge, driven by 74-year-old Norma Shirley, collided with both the pickup and Pegg as she was traveling north on Greensburg Road.
Chad Pegg was pronounced dead at the scene by the Adair County Coroner. The driver of the pickup, 36-year-old Samuel Derosset, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital for treatment. Norma Shirley also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
