Colorado Springs, CO (November 4, 2024) – Less than two hours after another motorcyclist fatality on Garden of the Gods Road, a second tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Colorado Springs on Sunday afternoon. Colorado Springs Police Department officers were called to the 1900 block of S Monterey Rd just before 5:00 p.m. for a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

Upon arrival, officers found the motorcyclist unresponsive at the scene. Despite prompt emergency efforts, the individual succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital. Police have not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of the family.

Preliminary investigation, supported by witness statements, suggests that speed may have been a factor in the collision. The CSPD continues to investigate to determine all factors contributing to the fatal crash.

Our thoughts go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.

Motorcycle Accident Risks and Safety in Colorado

Motorcycle accidents are often deadly, as riders face greater risks on the road due to minimal protective barriers. In Colorado, crashes involving motorcycles frequently result in severe injuries or fatalities, especially when factors such as speed are involved. Colorado traffic data shows that high speeds, along with other factors like limited visibility and distracted driving, contribute significantly to motorcycle accidents in both urban and rural areas.

Injuries sustained in motorcycle accidents can range from fractures and road rash to traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord damage. For families affected by a fatal motorcycle accident, the emotional and financial challenges can be overwhelming. Colorado law allows surviving family members to seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost income, and emotional suffering if another party’s negligence is involved.
