Coeur d’Alene, ID (September 22, 2024) – A tragic motorcycle crash occurred Saturday evening, resulting in one fatality and two individuals hospitalized. The two-vehicle collision took place at approximately 5:56 p.m. near milepost 19 on Coeur d’Alene Road, according to a news release from the Idaho State Police (ISP).
Preliminary reports indicate that a 50-year-old man from Coeur d’Alene, whose name has not been released, was riding a gray 2016 Victory Magnum motorcycle headed south. As he attempted to make a right turn, the motorcycle collided with a northbound red 1999 Yamaha XV1600 motorcycle. The Yamaha was being operated by a 34-year-old driver from Coeur d’Alene, who was traveling with a child.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities have indicated that alcohol and speed were factors in the incident. Despite all individuals involved wearing helmets, the driver of the Victory Magnum was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s family has been notified of the tragic news.
The driver of the Yamaha was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment, while the passenger was transported via ambulance. The conditions of the injured individuals have not yet been specified.
