Coconut Creek, FL (February 25, 2025) – A deadly crash early Tuesday morning shut down all southbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike near Exit 67, Coconut Creek Parkway.
The accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. and involved an SUV and an 18-wheeler. Aerial footage showed extensive damage to the SUV, which was surrounded by crime scene tape. The rear of the semi-truck also sustained significant damage.
Emergency responders confirmed that at least one person was killed in the collision. Authorities worked for hours to investigate and clear the scene, forcing southbound traffic from Atlantic Blvd to exit at Coconut Creek Parkway.
As officials directed vehicles away from the crash site, a second accident occurred, further complicating traffic flow. Only one left lane remained open for an extended period.
By late morning, all wreckage—including the damaged trailer and SUV—had been cleared, and all lanes were reopened. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim.
