Clinton, MD (October 25, 2024) – A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning in Prince George’s County, resulting in the death of a 45-year-old man and injuries to another individual. The incident took place shortly before 2:30 a.m. when Maryland State Police (MSP) responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Maryland Route 4 and Woodyard Road.
According to MSP, the driver and sole occupant of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased has been identified as Joseph Henry Irick of Fort Washington, Maryland. Emergency responders worked swiftly to assess the situation and provide assistance.
The driver of the box truck involved in the crash was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Capital Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. At approximately 5 a.m., all southbound lanes of Maryland Route 4 remained closed as authorities worked to clear the scene. However, by 9:30 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.
