Clinton County, MO (December 23, 2024) – Emergency responders were dispatched to a serious two-vehicle collision on Monday on southbound I-35 near mile marker 34, approximately 2 miles north of Holt. The crash occurred at around 3:35 PM, involving a 2008 Honda Odyssey and a 2008 Ford Focus.
Authorities report that the driver of the Honda Odyssey swerved into the passing lane to avoid a dog on the roadway, leading to a collision with the Ford Focus. The vehicles traveled off the east side of the roadway and came to rest in the median. The driver of the Ford Focus, a 56-year-old woman from Excelsior Springs, MO, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital by Holt Fire. A passenger in the Ford Focus, a 66-year-old woman, also from Excelsior Springs, MO, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Liberty Hospital by Tri-County Ambulance. Both individuals were reportedly using safety devices at the time of the crash.
The Honda Odyssey, driven by a 42-year-old woman from Ames, IA, sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. The Ford Focus, heavily damaged, was towed by Scotty’s Towing. Emergency responders from Clinton County Fire and Rescue, as well as Sgt. R.A. Sherman and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been released.
