Clermont, FL (March 6, 2025) – A Wesley Chapel woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash on State Road 33 near County Road 474, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Authorities reported that at approximately 1 a.m., a 39-year-old man from Greensboro, North Carolina, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra northbound in the southbound lanes of SR-33 when he collided head-on with a 2007 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 27-year-old woman from Wesley Chapel.
The impact caused the Sonata to rotate clockwise, while the Sierra overturned as a result of the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the woman to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Sierra was airlifted to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.
FHP is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
